Your Fall Reset: 7 Ways to Welcome the New Season ๐
Thereโs something about the beginning of fall that naturally makes us want to reset.
The days get a little shorter, routines start to change, and after the busyness of summer, we begin spending a little more time slowing down and turning inward.
The fall equinox, arriving September 22, marks the official beginning of the season and a point when day and night are nearly equal. Itโs a beautiful reminder of balance, transition, and making space for what comes next.
And your fall reset doesnโt have to mean completely changing your routine. Sometimes a few small, intentional shifts are enough.
Here are seven simple ways to welcome the season.
1. Decide what you're leaving in summer
Before thinking about everything you want to add this fall, think about what you might be ready to let go of.
A habit that isn't serving you? An overpacked schedule? Something you've been putting pressure on yourself to do?
Take a few minutes to journal about what you want to carry into this new season and what can stay behind.
2. Reset one space in your home
You don't need a full fall clean-out.
Choose one space that affects how you feel every day, whether it's your nightstand, bedroom, desk, or favorite place to relax.
Clear the clutter, open the windows, light a favorite candle, or add something that makes the space feel a little more comforting for the season ahead.
3. Spend some time outside
One of the simplest ways to connect with a changing season is to actually experience it.
Take a walk without headphones. Sit outside with your morning coffee. Notice the temperature changing, the leaves turning, or the evenings getting a little cooler.
You don't have to do anything. Just notice.
4. Create a five-minute grounding ritual
Your wellness routine doesn't need to be another thing on your to-do list.
Choose something you can realistically give yourself five minutes for each day.
Try a short meditation, deep breathing, stretching, journaling, or simply sitting quietly before reaching for your phone.
Five intentional minutes still count.
5. Check in with your body
We spend a lot of time pushing through what our bodies are telling us.
As the season changes, ask yourself:
Where am I holding tension?
What has been feeling depleted?
What would make me feel supported right now?
Maybe you need more movement. Maybe you need more sleep. Maybe you need a massage. Or maybe you simply need permission to rest.
Listen before deciding what your body "should" need.
6. Make a fall "more of / less of" list
Instead of setting another list of goals, try something softer.
This fall, I want more of: _____
This fall, I want less of: ______
Maybe it's more quiet mornings and less rushing. More time outside and less screen time. More connection and less obligation.
7. Give yourself something to look forward to
Wellness isn't only about fixing what's wrong. Joy, curiosity, connection, and learning are part of taking care of yourself too.
Plan something for the season that you're genuinely excited about.
Take a class. Try meditation. Learn something new. Spend an afternoon outside. Schedule the massage you've been putting off. Gather with people who make you feel good.
Whatever you choose, make a little room on the calendar for you.
